Nigel Gourlay

Nigel Gourlay spent 20 years in the consumer products industry with BAT Industries, living and working in 40 countries. His roles included finance director in Africa, head of BAT Industries investor relations, VP of marketing in the USA and head of global business development with responsibility for acquisitions. He completed more than 20 deals round the world, including managing the successful £13 billion merger with Rothmans International. He was a director of BATIF, the group’s debt funding vehicle and several group subsidiaries. In 2002 he co-founded Animos with Andrew Tillard and has since advised a wide variety of clients with roles including main board director of NYSE, TSX-V (Toronto), LSE and AIM listed companies, shareholder observer on the board of Mitsubishi Motors UK, director of several private companies and advisor to Salamanca Trustees Jersey Ltd. He is a director of Springboard Associates which carries out board effectiveness reviews and is also chair of governors of Beacon Academy Trust. Nigel began his career as a chartered accountant with Deloitte and Touche after graduating from London University with a BSc in Agricultural Economics.
