Nigel Gourlay

Nigel Gourlay graduated from London University with a degree in agricultural economics before qualifying as a chartered accountant with Deloitte and Touche.

He spent 20 years in the consumer products industry with BAT Industries, living and working in 40 countries. His roles included finance director in Africa, VP of marketing in the USA and director of business development in London, with a global remit to expand the group by acquisition and joint venture. He completed more than 20 deals round the world, including managing the successful £13 billion merger with Rothmans International. He was a director of BATIF, the group's debt funding vehicle and of several group subsidiaries.

In 2002 he co-founded Animos with Andrew Tillard and has since advised a wide variety of clients with roles including director of NYSE and AIM listed companies, board adviser to the majority shareholder of a large private UK business, chairman of the protector committee of Jersey based trusts, chairman of a Scottish sporting estate and director of a Toronto listed African farming company.
